When the weather takes a dip, my immune system’s quick to feel the chill. While I’m lucky Austin is mild this time of year, spending the week at home in Kansas City reminds me what real winter is all about. Naturally, I’ve struggled with a wimpy immune system for years, often worsened when the stress of life ramps up. These factors, paired with the germs colder weather tends to bring, mean I have to make a conscious effort to add immune-supporting elements to my diet.
In addition to eating lots of probiotic-rich foods, hydrating properly and emphasizing sleep, I’ve found these products below truly boost my immune system this time of year. And personally, one of the most comforting, warming ways to strengthen myself from the inside out is with my own bone broth concoction. Adding garlic powder, ground ginger, turmeric, black pepper, Himalayan pink salt, fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice to a warm cup of this nourishing broth packs an unbeatable punch of antioxidants and vitamins.
Though my typical Austin winter is nothing to complain about, the weather here in Kansas City shows me that this season will certainly linger a while longer. And it’s never too late to give your immune system a little love, so you can continue to be and feel your best. Check out my favorite brands and suggestions below!
